Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

going to court...

I'm getting divorce, my wife called me and told me the date that we have to be in court, she told me that i don't have to go if i don't want to... I don't know if that would affect me somehow... we don't have any properties in common or kids... we've been separated for 2 months but I go every other weekend to visit her 14 yo kid...
