Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

lived together, what are rights regarding house we live in?

Lynn & I have lived together in out house since 08/97. The house is titled in her name only & she put the $35,000 down payment. Since that time, we have contributed equally. If we so our own ways, what rights do I have to our mutual home?

Re: lived together, what are rights regarding house we live in?

Depending on your marital status and what household expenses youve contributed to, you may have several options with respect to defining your interest in the home you currently share with Lynn. For example, you could negotiate an agreement with Lynn that addresses your interest in the house and how you would exercise your rights to the property or you could (and would likely have to) file an application with the Court in order to define your interest in the home and the terms and conditions on which your rights would be enforced.

Our firm has experience in handling these types of matters and can discuss your options with you.
