Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

visitation

I have been divorced for 11 years and my two boys are now 11 and 13. They have expressed several times that their father complains about taking them to sporting and social events and has told them they may not be able to play sports again because the schedules interfere with his lifestyle. I have sole custody but he has liberal visitation. My question is, can he be compelled to take them to practices and such, and at what age can they decide whether or not they want to spend the weekend with him if they have other obligations?

Re: visitation

You will likely have to file an application with the Court that deals with issues of parenting time/visitation. Your children are of the age (11 and 13) where their (especially the older ones) wishes may be considered by the Court in making its decision whether a modification of the visitation schedule is warranted.

Our firm has experience in handling these types of post-judgment matters involving parenting time/visitation issues and can discuss your options with you.
