Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

I have a TRO on my boyfriend and father of my children. He has a alcohol problem and can home drunk and for the first time he hit me twice in the face it swelled a little and bruised a bit. That was the only time it ever happened. We have been together 10 years. I did not press simple assault charges but the police officer did so he has to go to municipal court. I spoke with the prosecutor and he said he is going to request a deal of the charge being dropped if the judge with order mandatory alcohol treatment. I think that is what he really needs. I was wondering if the prosecutor can still do that if I drop the TRO at superior court before the municipal court date for assault charge.

I really don't see what one has to do with the other. Don't allow yourself to be hit again.
