Legal Question in Social Security Law in New Jersey

social security

I was denied SS because they say I only worked to 2000 and my disability ran out in 2005. I did not apply out of embaraasment until 2007 when I ran out of money and help from family & friends. I am filing an appeal, but is there anything else I can do or am I penalized for hiding my disabilty and not asking the government for help?

Re: social security

Your eligibility for the Disability benefit may have ending in 2005 but as long as you were disabled BEFORE that date you can collect. It depends on your case - you may be able to amend you onset of disability date to a time in 2005 or before, while you were still covered. Contact a Lawyer
