Legal Question in Veterans Law in New Jersey

Army veteran

Is a veteran entitled to free medical and prescriptions if they have served honorably and are now out of military service?

IS a veteran eligible for any pension or social security type payments from the VA & if so how doe one go about it?

This depends on a number of factors. Right now eligibility is now in flux. If you have injury from your military service, you can be treated at the VA for those things that were injured. If you were not injured, currently it depends on your income level.

I suggest you take your DD214 and go to the local VA hospital and meet with the administrative office to determine your eligibility. Eligibility will change during the Obama administration and therefore, what you learn now may change in a year or so.

Good luck!

If you have a service connected disease or injury then you can apply for disability payments through the VA. If you are honorably discharged and are just looking for general health care, you can enroll in the VA Health Care system and have your medical needs taken care of that way. Go to either the nearest VA Hospital to apply for this, or go online and apply for this.
