Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New Jersey

My father passed away and we have a will. However, when we went to the court house to get the will probabted, we found out that our step mother had already been there. She told them that there was no will and made herself executor of his estate. She was not named the executor, my sister was and I am to serve if she cannot handle it. What should we do?
