Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York

Hi,

I was arrested on nyc subway because i fell asleep and laid down on the seat. I went to the subway police station and was there for 2 hours while they checked my prints and took a picture. they did not take any of my stuff or transfered me anywhere. then I was released from the station after 2 hours being there and i was given a simple paper saying i have to appear in midtown court. i could not find on the paper what my charge was all i found is top offense charged : LOC000.00 0V . I want to know if its a violation and if its worth to hire a lawyer and what can happen in court ?

Thank you so much

It sounds like you received an administrative law violation. Go to Court without a lawyer and see if the offer an ACD, essentially a dismisal with a warning. If they do take it, if not they will give you details of the oddense and ak for an adjournment and check back with me.

If you can afford one, I suggest you retain a competent criminal defense attorney. Your rights and your future are worth spending a few dollars for. From what you write it is not clear what you are being charged with. I presume it is a misdemeanor . You may contact my office @7188340087 for a free phone consultation.
