statue of limitations on misdemeanor

I live and work in CT, my employer I work at ran a background check on me and had me come into the office to tell me that I did not reveal to them that I got arrested in New York in 1986 (Mesdemeanor charge) for possibly driving a stolen vehicle and having nunchucks in the car. I told Human Resource that I was 17 yrs old and I don't remember ever being arrested in New York. HR said the report doesn't say anything at all. Nothing about going to court, or about any warrants.

Is there a statue of limitations on misdemeanors or when I go to the police station to clarify this sitution, will I be arrested? I am being told at my new job that I could possibly be fired for lying on my application, but I honestly did not know about this misdemeanor in 1986.

It sounds like the case is open and you have a bench warrant for your arrest. If a warrant was issued the statue of limitations stops running and they can pursue the case.
