Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York
I was staying wth someone who I barely knew but she felt sorry for me when I got evicted. told me i could stay as long as i needed. Had applied at social serices for help andthey sent her a w9 form . she submitted it and i wa there for2 months . the put the money on my benefit card. She was horribly mean to me kept call ing me a deadbeat and is a horrible person. I found a plce i can now afford. if i use the money from dss would i be in trouble? she keeps asking for money-she had said she likes to help people . we never had any financial agreement at all. do i need togive her this money or can i use it for a room rental?

Technically you might consider what she gave you a gift and do with it what you like, put you never know what she will claim and even lies can get you arrested. Why look for trouble, give her the money back.
