Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York

Unlicensed driver

I am concerned about a friend who may be unknowingly letting an unlicensed driver drive her car. I have reason to believe that this person had his license suspended or perhaps revoked. This friend of mine allows this guy to drive her car often, as she believes that his license is valid. She is in love with him and does not want to believe what others have told her about him. What can happen to her, if his license has been suspended or revoked? How could I find out for certainty, so I can let her know the truth?

Re: Unlicensed driver

This is a difficult situation. In the absence of her knowledge that he has no licence she is not responsible criminally for his felony as an accomplice or other liability. However, her insurance company may give her some trouble if he gets into an accident. They may refuse to pay according to the policy. Your friend would likely win on this point, but it is expensive.
