Legal Question in Family Law in New York

Child support

My son has had custody of his now 17 yo son since 5 and never got support from the mother of the boy. She is now trying to get the son back for the one year of support. Can my son sue her for past child support, how far back can he go?

Re: Child support

Retro child support in PA only goes back to the date you filed for child support.

This is the classic situation where one parent elects not to seek support, for whatever reason, while they have primary custody and when custody shifts the other parent files for support.

Good luck to you.
