Legal Question in Family Law in New York

Request for Inquest

I am trying to submit divorce papers which have been kicked back by the Court who is asking me to submit a request for inquest and a signed statement of proposed disposition. What are these two things and how can I find them? What is a request for inquest? Is the proposed disposition the same as the stipulation?

Re: Request for Inquest

A "Request" for specific relief or remedy may be made by ONE party.

A "Stipulation," is an Agreement or Contract between TWO or more parties.

A "Proposed Disposition" essentially is, what a party is asking for or wants the Court to decide the parties should have.

Your "divorce packet" should include the docs you require for an Unconttested divorce, along with instructions.

But, If you are missing any, the Unified Court Web Site for NY, should be able to provide you with the documents that you may be missing.

Good luck,
