Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in New York

i live in an apartment building and was given a 3 day notice to pay rent or leave. i was supposed to get my first 2 months rent free but was only given 1. also when i was away, someone went into my apartment and stole some belongings. many building staff are aware of it and i was told the property manager would handle it.

what should i do?
