Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New York
I gave my sister 5000 to purchase a timeshare for me and she was going to put it in my name. Now my son owes her money and she is refusing to gift it to me in my name. Can I do anything?

How old is your son?
Did you sign a promissory note for your son regarding the repayment of his loan?
Did your sister already purchase the property?

It seems there was an agreement between you and your sister as to the money. You sister failed to perform and kept the money. Depending on the jurisdiction, the $5000 amount may be small enough for small claims. Therefore, I would commence a small claims action against the sister for return of the money.
