Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New York

My dad died in Colorado when he moved in with my sister. I am the executor of his will that was issued here in New York. Are the laws the same when it comes it distribution of assets? Is his life insurance policy part of his estate? What about the bank accounts he put my sister's name on? Thank you.

He lived in CO when he died and that's where you have to go to probate the will even though he lived in New York when he made the will. Pain in the neck, for sure. Everything can be done by FedEx though.
