Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in North Carolina

Help! Need some judgement help in NC

My husband has defaulted on a Citibank Credit card over $20,000. WE dont know what to do. They are threatening to put a judgement on his credit. The account was only in his name. Can they touch my bank account if its only in my name and not his? I am 96% sure they can not garnish his wages because we live in NC. Can they touch our home? The mortgage is in his name but the deed is in both of our names. If they do put a lien on the house, what exactly does that mean?

They can put a mark on his credit report. They can also sue him. If they do, you should probably consult with an attorney. If they sue you as well, you should definitely consult with an attorney. If they win, and attempt to collect, your husband will have a chance to fill out exemptions. He must make sure to do this within 20 days of being served or else risk losing his exemptions. If the deed is in both your names, they should not be able to go after the house.
