can a federal judge charge and convict a person on a witness statement instead of a person actual crime

a JURY can convict a person based upon evidence. Testimony is evidence in the Federal system and in all courts. Therefore, it is possible for a jury to convict someone of a major drug felony (for example) without having one iota of drugs presented as evidence during a Federal case.
