Legal Question in Traffic Law in North Carolina
Automobile Accident
I was turning left during stopped traffic. There were three oncoming lanes and one turn lane. Drivers left open the space so as not to block the intersection. I eased past the first 3 lanes and just as I was beginnig to cross the turn lane onto my street an 18 year old driver abruptly swerved out of his lane and broadsided me so hard that my SUV was lifted several feet into the air and turned around. The accident report states that I failed to yield. I am questioning this as I was already in the lane when the other driver decided to change lanes as he was frustrated with stopped traffic. Do I have any recourse?
