Legal Question in Disability Law in Ohio

Compensation of free food

I have celiac disease and can not eat any wheat products. The hospital where I work frequently rewards our hard work by providing free food for the nurses. I am unable to eat the food provided, so must buy my lunch. I have spoken to my supervisor about providing me with a gluten free meal as I also work hard, but this has not been done. The other nurses are being compensated quite a bit of money by not having to buy lunch. Am I entitled to this same compensation? The catering company they use is able to provide gluten free food. I have considered myself a good sport about this, but lately it has increased and I am becoming frustrated with a situation that could be solved with one additional order of a salad! Thank you for your help.

Re: Compensation of free food

Upon first reading and without having researched the particulars of your case, I would think the hospital would respond to a letter from an attorney, if you want to make an issue of this. Could the hospital claim that this is merely a gift/bonus and not actual compensation??
