Legal Question in Business Law in Ohio
Warren Act
I worked for a large home building
company. So far this year, they have
been down-sizing sales centers in
great numbers. I was informed on
June 9, 2008 that I would be losing
my job due to my sales center
closure. I was not given a final date
of work until last Thursday, June 26,
2008. My last day of work was
today, July 2, 2008. I was given a
severance package of 2 weeks salary.
I have accrued 2 weeks vacation that
I was told would be ''prorated''. After
seven days from July 2, if I sign a
waiver agreeing not to file suit
against the company for ANY reason,
I was offered an additional 2 weeks
salary. Is this legal? What about the
Warren Act? Also, I live and work in
Ohio, but the company is based out
of Florida.

Re: Warren Act
Dear Inquirer: NEVER, NEVER sign anything without your Attorney's advice and review!!!
The Warren Act requires 60 days' written notice of closure by an employer, etc. If in doubt about your rights, consult an Attorney ASAP.
Good luck.
sincerely,
