Legal Question in Family Law in Ohio

Obtaining guardianship in Ohio!!?

I have an 18 year old friend that lives with me in Ohio. He wants to transfer schools here. But, they say even though he is 18 I have to be his guardian. Does anyone know how I can go about this. Do you have to go through the court or do I just need a notarized document?

Depending on your county, the process of being appointed a guardian requires going to probate court and filing a variety of paperwork. It also depends on whether you want to be appointed guardian of his person and/or his estate.
