Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Ohio

bbb claim

i put in a complaint with bbb about some work that was done on my house. now the company wants to sue me because i supposedly lied to him about my financial situation. his words are that the next time i hear from him will be from his lawyer with a lawsuit since i cannot retract the complaint that he asked me to do under duress. does he have a valid suit and do i need to see a lawyer or he just blowing smoke? i dont know if i listed the correct area of law.

Re: bbb claim

It sounds to me that the company is upset because a complaint was filed against them, and so now they are trying to threaten you with possible legal action hoping you will contact the Better Business Bureau to drop the complaint.

I do not know if there is any sort of valid suit against you based just on what you have posted. If anything, you might have a suit against them if they file a suit in retaliation against of your BBB complaint. However, I wouldn't get too worried unless or until you receive an actual complaint and summons in the mail. If you do get something, contact a lawyer as soon as possible because an answer needs to be filed within 28 days of you receiving the complaint.

Chances are though that they are just blowing smoke and nothing will come of it.

If you have any further questions, feel free to contact me.
