Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Ohio

Power of attourney question

My wife's mother is going into a long-term care facility. My wife has signed a POA, giving her access to her mother's checking account. My wife is also the executor in her will. When her mother runs out of money, can ''they'' come after us for payment of the long-term care and medical needs?

Re: Power of attourney question

No, they cannot, unless your wife expressly agrees to be personally responsible.

No, your wife's obligation is to work with and try to preserve her mother's money, but not to take over her obligations.
