Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Pennsylvania

debt

I had my car into an auto dealership for repairs that were covered under my warranty. I owed the dealership money from a previous transaction not related to service or repairs on the car. They had no legal documentation that attached the debt to the car, but still would not release my car until I had paid the debt in full. Is this legal

Re: debt

You asked if a dealership could hold your car for money you owed.

Yes. You owe the money to the dealer. The car doesn't.

You shouldn't look to the law to protect you from a legitimate means to enforce a debt.

Roger
