Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Pennsylvania

Deceased boyfriend's brother will not return property

My boyfriend recently passed away in August. Then I found out I was pregnant right after. Over the course of our relationship, I bought several things. Most of the items have been returned to me except for a few things. One item, being a Playstation 2 that I payed $200.00 for.(I have the receipt) This was bought for our use but his brother removed it from my boyfriend's bedroom and refuses to return it to me. He claims that my boyfriend gave me the money for it. He is also saying that my boyfriend bought my stereo equipment for my car, which he did not. I know this is only something small but it is extremely stressing me out to the point of making me sick. Being pregnant, this is very unhealthy for me. I don't know what to do with this situation. I don't deserve this treatment and the accusations of being a liar.

Re: Deceased boyfriend's brother will not return property

You can sue the brother in small claims court (District Justice Court) for the value of the items. If an Estate has been opened by your boyfriend's family (unlikely) unless he had assets or a lawsuit will be commenced arising out of his death) you can bring a claim against his Estate.
