Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Pennsylvania
Harrassment
My neighbor, who has documented mental illness problems, has decided that I am spying on her. SO to combat this she tried to file for a PFA - her husband managed to get it stopped - she has now called Children and Youth services to accuse me of chld abuse - my children are adults and do not live with us. However, I so have a grandson that my husband and I watch one day a week. A investigator is coming to my house, how do I handle this? Do I have any recourse to stop this neighbor? I feel that when this gets settled she will just do something else.

Re: Harrassment
excuse me for shouting, but Mark's reply, though correct, was a little mild.
YOU HAVE BEEN FALSELY ACCUSED OF CHILD ABUSE.
BECAUSE OF THE STIGMA OF THIS HORRIBLE CRIME, EVEN FALSE ACCUSATIONS CAN HAVE VERY SERIOUS IMPACT.
YOU CANNOT ASSUME THAT THE INVESTIGATOR WILL AUTOMATICALLY REALIZE THAT THE NEIGHBOR IS DELUSIONAL.
YOU ABSOLUTELY NEED TO HAVE AN ATTORNEY REPRESENT YOU. GO OUT NOW **NOW** AND FIND AN ATTORNEY TO ADVISE YOU, BEFORE YOU MEET WITH INVESTIGATORS.
JUST BECAUSE YOU'RE INNOCENT, THAT DOESN'T MEAN YOU DON'T NEED COUNSEL. IT'S EVEN MORE IMPORTANT TO HAVE YOUR LEGAL RIGHTS PROTECTED WHEN YOU'RE INNOCENT.
AFTER THE INVESTIGATION IS RESOLVED IN YOUR FAVOR, THEN YOU CAN WORRY ABOUT DETERRING FURTHER HARRASSMENT.

I agree with Atty. Marvin. Get counsel now.

You may have recourse to get a restraining order against her or other legal action to deter her. I recommend speaking with an attorney to discuss your options. I offer free consultations.
