employed 10 years laid off for lower wages

I worked for circuit city for 10 years, I was hired into a position in september of 2007 for 14.25 over the market base wage that they say, since then i was given a raise for a perfect review,I also got another perfect review, my pay is now 14.75 hr i was let go on mar 28th 2007 for being paid to high over that market price isn't that the fault of circuit city for putting me in that position in the first place at that higher rate of pay ?
