Legal Question in Employment Law in Pennsylvania
Employee Benefits
I was working for a company that promised me medical benefits after 90 days. After 10 months I still had not recieved my benefits. I talked to my immediate supervisor and the human resource manager several times. They both told me that they had to talk to the owner. I got no response. I got ill and it took over 32 days to find a doctor that would seeme with no medical insurance. On the day I was released to return to work I was terminated. I have mounting medical bills and ongoing medical problems from this incident. Do I have any legal ramifications I can take?

Re: Employee Benefits
Yes, you do have legally enforceable rights. The promised benefits are considered wages under the Pennsylvania Wage Payment and Collection law. You may be entitled to recover the cost of medical care plus attorney fees. You may also have a claim under federal alw. ERISA is a federal law governing employee benefits. It provides a right to sue for damages if an employer terominates your employment to prevent you from collecting benefits.
