Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Pennsylvania

Sheriff Sales

I want to bid on several properties in Bucks County, PA going up as Sheriff Sales the 2nd Friday of each month. The department doesn't offer any legal advice. I want to know if I win the bid, do I have to payoff any leins or mortgages, or do I get a free and clear title? Does the former owners have any rights? Thanks

Re: Sheriff Sales

you should run a title search and see what comes up on title. Majority of the time all lien holders are served properly but recently whats been happening is that the foreclosure attorney may make a mistake and not serve a party or name them as a defendant to divest the lien and you will be responsible for it. You do not get a clear title at the sale. they say "buyer beware"
