Legal Question in Family Law in South Carolina

My wife was living in South Carolina with me, and her mom and dad came down from Ohio to take her and my 5 year old son, to Ohio to help my wife get over an illness, with the intent, I would join them in Ohio later. When my wife got to Ohio, she sent a face book message, saying the marriage is over. What are the laws and radius she can take my child, and can she take my son across state lines without my consent?

She can take the child wherever she desires, until and unless you act to prevent it. If you want the child with you, back in SC, or both, then you need to consult an attorney and bring an action in Family Court a.s.a.p. The longer you "allow" her to keep the child away, the greater the chance she will be allowed to continue doing so.

These are complex issues, and it is important that they be handled correctly. Therefore, it is important that you consult an experienced family law attorney to find out what options are available to you based on the facts of your particular case.
