Legal Question in Civil Litigation in South Carolina

Diminished Value caused by vehicle collision

I would like to know how I can prove that the value of my vehicle has been diminished due to a collision and how much depreciation has occurred. I feel that approximately 12-15% of depreciation has occurred since the average automobile will depreciate approximately 10% due to natural depreciation caused by use of the vehicle. Any related statues or past cases would be a great help.

Re: Diminished Value caused by vehicle collision

I would get the Blue Book value off the Internet, or go to a book store and buy a Blue Book and look up what it was worth prior to the accident. I would then take it to a Dealership and get them to give you an estimate for a trade-in, and be sure to tell them it had been wrecked and what had to be fixed. Ask them to give you a written estimate. The difference between the two (2) should give you some evidence of the depreciation of the vehicle.
