do i have the right to a jury trial with a courtesy summons (the state isnt charging me with anything) i live in South Carolina

In most cases yes you have a right to a jury trial. One exception is if you are a juvenile being tried in Family Court.

Its hard to answer your question without knowing what you received the summons for. I'm assuming that what you have is a ticket. If so, then you are probably entitled to a jury trial. But its necessary to know what the summons is for.
