Legal Question in Constitutional Law in Tennessee

Legal intervention in Education

My son who is now a senior in HS has ADD and was labeled hearing impaired until 5th grade.

Upon meeting with the principal two and one half years ago, he was suppose to be added as a 504 student to receive additional help in math if needed.

All of last year was spent with ''Lost Paper work''. He has fallen through the cracks in that area.

He along with his disability has learned to not be afraid to ask questions. A coach who he has had in previous years has berated him over and over in front of his team, and now the coach has indicated(removed name from existing roster, etc...)that my son not try out for the team. His uniform and number have been reissued to another student. Between calls to school to reach the principal/coach are not returned. Administration has told us to go to a private school if we are that unhappy.

Does not every child have a right to a free education without harrassment or being singled out?

You probably have an I.D.E.A. {Individuals With Disabilities Education Act} and/or A.D.A. {Americans With Disabilities Act} and/or a 1983 Civil Rights Act issue. For more info, see www.gsmithlawfirm.com
