Pre-Marital Spousal Debt
I am presently living with someone. If we get married, will I be responsible for the debt that he incurred prior to our marriage?

Re: Pre-Marital Spousal Debt
No. One spouse does not 'inherit' the debts of the other spouse incurred prior to marriage, unless she specifically signs a document in which she assumes those debts. Obviously not a wise thing to do. Otherwise, both debts and assets of each spouse collected prior to marriage remain the separate property of the one who owns them.
