does tennessee have a law called fire at will law?

Tennessee is what is known as an "at-will" jurisdiction. This means that an employer can terminate an employee for good, bad or no reason at all without violating the law. The rationale for this law is that it is balanced by the employee's unfettered right to terminate his or her employment under the same conditions. There are, however, several exceptions to the "at-will" rule which have been created by the Tennessee legislature and the courts.
