Legal Question in Personal Injury in Tennessee
ex-husband is atty., 200,000 judgement
My ex, an atty., sued the newspaper, publisher, reporterand me for slander.
tHE REASON IS THE PUBLISHJER REPORTED HIS DUI A AND OTHER ACTIONS WITH A MUG SHOT - FRONT PAGE SEVERAL TIMES. I GAVE NO INFORMATION. IWI WAS NOT SERVED
AT TIME OTHERS WERE. SERVICE WAS SIGNED BY PUBLISHER 7 MONTHS LATER. I WAS NOT INVOLVED IN COURT HEARINGS. TRIED TO SERVE ME IN 2004 BUT HAD TO DO ALIAS NEVER BROUGHT BACK TO SERVE. hE TOLD ME TO CONTACT HOMEOWNEERS TO PAY. - AT TIME WE WERE GOING THROUGH DIVORCE. WITHOUT NOTICE HE GOT A 200,00 JUDGEMENT AGAINST ME, NO OTHERS. SOMEONE FORGED MY NAME AND ANSWERED SOMETHING WHICH HE SAYS GAVE HIM PROPER SERVICE. HE TOOK AWAY MY ALIMONY WHICH HE HAD NOT PAID SINCE ORDERED IN 2002. hE SAYS HE SAYS IT WAS FRAUD. I DID NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO. NOW FINALLY BORROWED ENOUGH FOR ATTORNEY. HOWEVER, NO ONE SEEMS TO KNOW IF THIS WILL BE DISMISSED SO i CAN MAKE HIM DO WHAT I WAS AWARDED IN DIVORCE. hOW CAN YOU GET A JUDGEMENT DISMISSED TWO YEARS LATER AND WHEN DONE TO INTENTIONALLY HARM and take alimony, cash settlement, etc. away.? He is now the attorney for this newspaper and dropped case against others.CAN YOU HELP?

The issue hinges on whether you had actual or constructive notice of the suit. You need to contact a local attorney to see if there are grounds to attack the service of process. This would be done by motion ot the court.
