Legal Question in Business Law in Texas

Criminal charges attempting to be settled out of court

I was recently the victim of harrasment and verbal assault with threat to cause bodily harm, among other charges by the same individual. The individuals (rather wealthy family) is attempting to settle with me out of court for an undetermined sum to drop the charges. My question is: What is a reasonable amount to ask for, and what kind of legal agreements and/or contracts should I have drawn up to make the agreement binding to it that the defendant keeps their side of the agreement?

What is reasonable amount may be whatever amount makes you feel somewhat compensated but speak with an attorney about this. Also, I would highly suggest you speak with an attorney if they are going to have either party draw up and sign any document.
