Legal Question in Technology Law in Texas
Internet Newspaper LIbel and MisQuotes
An internet newspaper which reports on my local area has posted some annomous postings that slandered my company. I responded and have since come under attack from both the editor and the original sender who most likely are one in the same. My responses have been edited and delayed while the others seem to be posted immediately. My last response, which detailed the facts that prove the falsity of their postings has not been published. The postings have defamed me and my company and are easily proven false. I know who the editor is, but do I have any recourse.

Re: Internet Newspaper LIbel and MisQuotes
Based on the fact you have presented, you may have a cause of action sounding in defamation against the newspaper and the people who are posting the information. Typically, an attorney would send a cease and desist/demand letter asking for the defamation to stop and demanding payment. The state of the newspaper may also require a demand for a published apology to avoid punitive damages and/or before you can file suit. Then, you'd file suit. Can you show actual damages to your business?
Sorry to hear about the problems. Let me know if you have any further questions.
