Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

We had a child visitation hearing in Oklahoma and the father was awarded a last name change (of the child) It has a been a year and the mother has not made the change on the birth certificate yet. The father has the documents stating the order. What steps does he need to take to change the name? Can he do it himself as the father? The court clerk will not give him the info he needs and advised him to seek legal advice.

This case is in OK. I am only licensed in Texas so I don't know OK family laws.

Look on this website & on www.avvo.com for an attorney in OK.

He can call the birth certificate registry in OK and find out what forms they need to issue a new birth certificate. Normally the first step is a final order signed by a judge and the state will want a certified copy to know that it is real.

Clerks are not attorneys and cannot give legal advise.
