Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

emancipation

I am 16yr old and i live with my

mom. my dad works all the time and

my mom currently has a job at a

convenience store. My mother is

verbally abusive and has physically

abused me before. I have

contemplated suicide many times

becuase of her . she has accussed me

of some of the most horible things

possible. I have 2 jobs, and several

responsible adults who will let me live

with them. I also have tape

recordings of my mother and the

things she has said. I pay for all my

bills and am currently in college ( i

graduated early) I have a 4.00 GPA

and am extremly responsible. can

you tell me what chance I have of

being emancipated???

Re: emancipation

For removal of disabilities of a minor (emancipation) you need to be living separate and apart from your parents, and financially self-supporting. You will need some level of cooperation from your parents -- talk to your dad and see if you can reach an agreement.
