Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Incompetent Or just Plain Stupid

I was recently very embarassed because my attorney who has been paid in full for an contested divorce has came to court with incorrect paperwork. He has also called into court several times. Delaying my case. Also we went to ask for an expedited trial...he showed up late in a wrinkled suit and the judge litterally rolled her eyes at him. It was very obvious he does not ahve the respect of anyone in the court. He had no idea what grounds to ask for the appeal on.He could have said anything other than what he said which was so lame the judge denied it before he could even finish talking. It was so pathetic I wanted to cry. Is there anything I can do about this? I really feel like he just doesn't care I also want my money back and I just found out he is on fully probated supension with the state bar. What does that mean? Do I have any other options other than paying a completely new attorney to pick up where this one fell short.

I will never find a lawyer in the greensheet again.

Go the The state bar of Texas website and get the forms to file a grevience.

You will need to be specific what the did wrong and just not complain about things in general.

Some local bars also have committees to handle money disputes.

Sorry about your experience. You will need to hire a new attorney who knows what they are doing. I suggest you do so quickly to see if they can undo any damage your current attorney did.

Fully probated suspension means that the State Bar has placed the attorney on probation and suspended his law license. However, that suspension is probated meaning abated or held off and wont go into effect provided he meets whatever terms they set for him to keep his law license.

Good luck and don't delay talking to an attorney.
