Am I married?

I was married on March 18, 2006. My sister was the officiate having obtained her license online. As of today she never turned the certificate in to the Bexar county courthouse, and now says she lost it!

So my question is...am I married at all?? It was a big wedding and there were over 20 witnesses. But I have no legal proof! I love my sister and dont want to get her into trouble...but I would really like to change my name officially.

What should I do?

As I recall she has 30 days after the marriage to turn in the certificate. I suggest you call the courthouse, explain that the minister lost the certificate and ask them for their recomendation. The easist thing may be to simply get a new marriage license and have her turn that one in.
