Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Ordered to pay child support at a rate factored incorrectly

I went to a child support meeting to determine child support for my daughter. Her mother (whom I was never married to) told the caseworker that I make a certain amount of money. She factored in overtime and hourly pay. I no longer make overtime and I am salaried. I disputed the amount and was told I would be contacted with a court date. Fast forward 2 months. I get a letter in the mail stating that I have been ordered to pay the amount based on the OLD income (which was higher) I never received ANY notice of a court date because I would have definitely shown up to dispute the amount. I'm now being told that I am also in arrears for $6000 which also doesnt add up correctly based on the childs age. Is there a way to have this amended or looked into without involving an attorney or am I flat out of luck? My employer told me that they have never had anyone contact them to verify my income. They based this purely on the mother's word, which is now leaving me BROKE.

I highly recommend that you hire an attorney.

I recommend Pat Bushman. You need to do this immediately. Something sounds wrong. Tell her that Fran sent you. She's also on this website.

FYI:The TX AG never contacts an employer about wages.

Now you see why you should have hired an attorney to begin with and not tried to do it yourself!
