Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Texas
Civil suit for damages due to fraudalant marriage license and proposal
Do I have grounds to sue a person who intentionally misled me by obtaining a marriage license with me even though they were currently married and not in the process of getting a divorce--name removed--If I cannot sue them for civil damages--name removed--can I bring criminal charges against them?

Re: Civil suit for damages due to fraudalant marriage license and proposal
You may have a contract or fraud claim. However, you have to ask yourself what are your economic damages. Is it worth the stress and expense of a litigation? Hurt feelings and frustration alone are not worth bring such a suit. Sounds like he may have done you a favor not to marry you as it is better to end this now rather than marry him and end up in a divorce or worst, custody fight with him later.
Let me know if I can be of further help.
