Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Texas

My friend just blackmailed me saying that he has information about me from my past that he wants to tell other people. He also stayed at my place and owes me $520 dollars what should I do and can i use that agianst him?

1. Go online and find out where the nearest Justice of the Peace is.

2. Call the JP office. Tell them that you want to file a small claims lawsuit. Make sure that they have jurisdiction.

3. Go down to the JP office and spend about $50 (that's what the filing fee will be) and sue this guy for the $520.00 he owes you.

Blackmail is a crime, and you can report him to the police, but they probably won't do anything. With a civil suit, you're in control.
