Change of status from l1b to h4

Hi,

I have L1B stamped from my comany, i arrived in USA for a company project but after my arrivel the very next day i got news that project is cancelled and my company is sending me in 2 days back to my home country, My wife is working in USA on H1B from last 1 year, so my question is can i change my visa from L1B to H4 ASAP so i can stay with her till i get new wmployer to file my H1 in April 2006.

Beinformed that i arrived in USA only 1 day back.

Yes -- but obviously, you must act quickly, and you cannot work until a new employer hires you and gets a new H1b approved. TCL

You may change status from L1-B to H-4 but will not be able to work as a dependent. Once you have a job offer, you may again change your status from H-4 to H-1B1 if that is an appropriate visa for you.
