my estranged husband (apart for 12 months) has died and left everything to his girlfriend of 6 months, married for 4 years and he has a stepson of 9, signed his will on the day after he was given 48 hrs to live, what is my position on claim on his estate?

This would appear to be a classic case of where there is an entitlement to claim provision from your husband's estate under the Inheritance(Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975.
Proper provision was clearly not made for you as his wife and a child of the family.
With these claims you have to move fast and you will need legal guidance.
