Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia

son arrested

Recently my son who has never been in any trouble in the past now has been arested due to me, his mother calling the police. There was a big misunderstanding between my son and I. My son pusehed me, i was fearful never seeing this behavior in the past and called the police. They arrested my 18 year old son. Now that the facts have come out I relize why the pushing happened. His father stated to him I was going to kill the family dog. We go to court in a month is there anything i can due to have the charges droped?

Re: son arrested

No, a complaining witness has no right "to have charges dropped"(particularly, when they involve domestic violence). These determinations lie mainly with the local Office of the Commonwealth's Attorney which is charged with prosecuting all such crimes within the jurisdictional area for which it is responsible.
