Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

I have a child who has just graduated from high school and is 18 yrs old. His father & I divorced in 1996,I was given sole physical custody and dumb me never took him to court to have his child support increased. He paid me only $300 a month. Whenever he bought my son ANYTHING or paid a doctor bill, he took half of the amount out of my support check because he was afraid I wouldn't pay him back if he didn't. I'm wondering if I can do anything about that now. Can I get any of that money back that he took from me? It can be proven because he always paid me with a check.

Yes, you might want to add up all of these items which he deducted from

his child support obligation during this time period to see how much it

is and then determine whether it would be worth taking him back to

court for these arrearages. (Yes, these are arrearages since he had

no legal authority to make these kinds of deductions in my opinion.)

While what he did is not proper, it happens all the time. What does your court order say? You should consult an attorney and DSS Lakeside Drive. Good luck.
